Our costings are calculated by the size of the quilt-top combined
with the style of quilting requested.
To get a rough estimate of the price for a simple all-over (edge
to edge) pattern:
- Measure your quilt top to find the length and width in inches
(as an example, we will use a quilt 80 " wide by 80"
long).
Since every quilter sews a slightly different quarter inch seam,
please measure your own quilt top, don't rely on the finished
measurements given in your pattern.
- Multiply your length and width together to give you the size
of your quilt in square inches.
In our example, 80 x 80 = 6400 square inches.
- Divide the size of your quilt by 144 to give you the size of
your quilt in square feet - as 144 square inches is equal to 1
square foot.
In our example, 6400 / 144 = 44.4 square feet.
- Multiply the size of your quilt by the rate (quoted below) for
all-over quilting.
In our example, 44.4 x $2.50 = $111.
Please remember this calculation is only a guide for simple all-over
quilting.
A fixed price will be agreed with you before before we commence
any work.
Edge to edge (all-over) quilting
From $2.50 per square foot. Turn-around is approximately 6 - 8 weeks
for this service.
Custom quilting
From $5.50 per square foot.
Binding
Small quilt (up to 80 inches square) - $40 to cut and piece binding
Large (over 80 inches square) - $50 to cut and piece binding.
To attach prepared binding - Small $25 and Large $35.
Slip stich binding to rear of quilt - $1 per linear foot.
Wadding
We can also supply the wadding for your quilt - reducing your postage
costs when you send it to us.
Available waddings include Matilda's Own needlepunched 60/40 wool/poly
blend in both cream and
charcoal, Matilda's Own O Sew Soft needle punched 100% polyester,
and Hobbs 80/20 Cotton/poly blend.
